Installing Windows 10 on RedmiBook 14 II Notebook Free of Charge

RedmiBook is an inexpensive notebook in its class. The only catch is you need to re-install the Windows to your own language. Here is the step-to-step guide on Install Windows 10 on a RedmiBook 14 II notebook. Also, we will aslo install Microsoft Office 2019 Home & Student version on the notebook cost free.

RedmiBook has Microsoft Device Encryption turned on by default. It means the complete hard disk is encrypted with BitLocker and Microsoft Windows installation cannot proceed when encryption is turned on. The first thing needs to be done is to turn off device encryption.

From Start menu, choose “Settings” to get into Windows Setting.

Click on “Update & Security”

Select “Device Encryption”

In Device Encryption, click “Turn Off” to turn off hard disk encryption.

You will be asked to confirm turning off device encryption. Click “Confirm”.

It takes a few minutes to decrypt the entire hard disk. Wait for decryption to finish.

After the hard disk encryption is turned off, restart Windows. When the system boots up and you see the “Mi” logo on the black screen, press “F2” function key to access the BIOS configuration.

The default display language for the BIOS is Chinese. The first thing you need to do is to change the display language to English.

At the BIOS menu, press “RIGHT” arrow on the keyboard once. And keep pressing the “Down” arrow until the language option is highlighted (see the language option marked by a red circle in Figure 8). Press “ENTER” and then you will see the option to select English. Use the “UP” and “DOWN” arrows to highlight the English option and press “ENTER”.

After you select English display, the display language is changed to English immediately.

You can use the touchpad to select “Security” options. You need to double click on “Supervisor Password”.

Set the Supervisor Password. The supervisor password needs to be set before you can disable “Secure Boot Mode” for Windows Installation.

Disable “Secure Boot Mode”.

Goto “Exit” and click “Exit Saving Changes”. The notebook will reboot.

Insert the Windows Installation Media prepared previously into a USB port. When you see the “Mi” logo on the screen again, press “F12” to bring up the Boot Manager. Select to boot from EFI USB Device.

The Windows Installation process begins.

When you are asked to activate Windows, select “I don’t have a product key”. RedmiBook has a digital license recognized by Microsoft automatically. There is no license key needed.

You should select Windows 10 Home. The other version may not be run freely on this notebook or you need to purchase extra Windows license.

When you are asked the type of installation, select “Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)”.

Install Windows on Partition 3: Windows. Before you click “Next”, it is best to click “Format” to clear the Chinese Windows data on the Windows drive.

Click “OK” to format the Windows partition.

Click “Next” and Windows will copy the files to the partition and setup the notebook for you.

The Windows installation has all device drivers for RedmiBook 14 II. Microsoft has all the drivers to setup the notebook. All you need to do is to wait for the installation complete.

After Windows is installed completely, you should restart the notebook and press “F2” get back to the BIOS configuration. In Security, enable “Secure Boot Mode”.

Once the notebook is Secure Boot Mode enabled, Microsoft Device Encryption option is available in the Settings -> Update & Security. You should turn on Device Encryption to protect your data against thief.

The next step is to bring back your Microsoft Office 2019.
